Case Study - The Bangkok Staircase
There were many steps taken to mastering this Bangkok beauty!
A Bangkok based client contacted Aquarian was looking for a company who could build a bespoke iron spiral staircase art their luxury house. Not only was part of the ironwork to be outside but it was a particularly intricate piece of work that could only be small in diameter.
Aquarian was awarded the project after sending some samples to give an idea of what the finished work would look like.

As this was such a unique piece of ironmongery, Aquairon’s design team developed a 3D impression of a step. The client was involved in the process and was able to review the model as work progressed. This worked well as they were able to make changes to fit their tastes along the way.
With such a narrow radius, the design team had their work cut out but after going through all the issues at the foundry, they created a final sample for approval. There was one last change to be made. The client wanted the final design of the steps to include round holes in the steps instead of diamonds and once that was implemented, the ironwork began!
This project came with logisitical challenges. While it was built in the UK, it needed to fit perfectly in Thailand. Aquarian created the entire spiral staircase in their foundry and then carefully took it about and sent it by freighted on a long journey to Bangkok.
It was unpacked and like a giant jigsaw puzzle it was gradually put together to become a rather stunning piece.
Now it’s in his final resting place. It’s used every day and elegantly links the ground and first floors of a beautiful Bangkok home.
